Martha E. Pollack is professor and dean of the School of Information. Her term as dean began August 1, 2007.
Most recently she was professor of electrical engineering and computer science in the U-M College of Engineering. Pollack joined the College of Engineering in 2000 and since 2004 has served as associate chair for computer science and engineering, a division with 40 faculty and approximately $11 million in sponsored research activities.
Pollack's research focuses on using information and computing to improve quality of life. Her recent work has focused on developing applied technologies for people with cognitive impairment so that they can live more autonomously, and she has collaborated with colleagues in the Medical School on developing tools for this purpose.
